Jean-Paul Estievenart //

At 29, Jean-Paul Estiévenart already has a career behind him and before him too, needles to say.
Altought he has played and still performs with a bunch of musicians and bands such as Perico Sambeat, Dre Pallemaerts, Nic Thys, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Act Big Band, Félix Simtaine, Bruno Castellucci, Adama Drame, Byron Wallen, Philippe Aerts, Manuh Roche, Furio Di Castri, Nathalie Loriers and many more...
He won the Django d’Or young talent in 2006, he was the Belgian artist in the European Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2007, he received the Octave de la musique for the best Belgian jazz album 2009. He still has much to explore, but more than that, he still has much to give.
Now, Jean-Paul is presenting his own project. A trio with trumpet, bass and drums:
A trio without harmonic instrument, a trio that is therefore very open.
And we know Sam Gerstmans, a solid and inventive bassist, and Antoine Pierre, a creative young drummer, plough into open spaces just like Jean-Paul himself.
Compositions by the trumpet player and arrangements of standards are on the lively trio’s sophisticated but muscle-bound menu.
